David Scott and Pauline Ryder presented with a Highly Commended Award for services to Modbury

TWO MODBURY RESIDENTS ARE HIGHLY COMMENDED BY SOUTH HAMS DISTRICT COUNCIL

On Thursday 20 March David Scott and Pauline Ryder were asked to be at Follaton House, the headquarters of the South Hams District Council, for a special presentation in the afternoon. Both were shown into a large reception room and met various other people from various places around the South Hams. After a very welcome cup of tea and some cake, the South Hams District Councillors came to meet the gathering, led by the Chairman, Cllr Bernard Taylor, who then requested that everybody follow him into another reception room where each would receive a certificate for an award.

David Scott and Pauline Ryder were duly presented with a Highly Commended Award for services to Modbury - David as Town Crier and allotment benefactor and Pauline for all her charity work, including the May Fair and Guide Dogs for the Blind and her work at the Memorial Hall. After the individual presentations everyone went for more photographs on the main steps of Follaton House.

Unfortunately the photographs taken inside were rather dark and so Cllr Bernard Taylor arranged to do a second presentation in Modbury Memorial Hall. David Scott and Pauline Ryder were both very pleased to have their efforts recognised.

Taken from an article in The Modbury Messenger, with thanks.
