Here are the answers to some of the questions you may be
asking.
Yes of course, provided your business fits with one of the
categories listed on the left. For more general adverts,
we will consider adding a 'link'.
Click on
the Contact Us tab and get in touch so we can talk about it.
Yes, as part of an advert on the site - let us have details.
Please click here for information about
how we prevent SPAM mail being generated from email addresses on
this site.
We would appreciate a
link back to this site if we link to you but we don't insist on it;
click our logo on the Links page and there's an easy way to put
our logo on your site.
Yes of course, and simple text changes or changes of graphics
are free of charge. If you have a logo that you would like us to use, you can
email it direct to our webmaster.
It depends what they are. Web sites operate with a
narrower choice of font than printed material, and how they
display depends on the user's own browser. For the more common fonts,
that isn't a problem but, if the browser doesn't support one
which you have chosen, it will default to a fairly boring one.
If you want something outlandish, it may be better to convert
your text into a graphic.
Yes, but to be fair to all our advertisers, we restrict individual
adverts to two column widths and a single row or a single
column and two rows.
If you don't
have your own Web Site, and there's more you want to tell your
potential customers, a low cost
alternative is to have a 'More Details' link on your main advert
so that it displays either a pop-out panel or a simple web page.
Use the Contact Us tab to get in
touch for details of prices.
Generally speaking, text and one or two graphics. We need
the pages to load as quickly as possible and lots of large
graphics really do slow them down.
Although that's not
usually a problem with broadband, not everyone has that and some
people on holiday will be using dial-up connections on
laptops linked to mobile phones.
For two reasons; the first one is space, because some of them
are very long and they would give a cluttered appearance to the site
and detract from its main purpose. However, by clicking on
the link, the address will appear in your browser or email
program.
The second is
that, unfortunately, unmasked email addresses get harvested from
web sites and sold to unscrupulous businesses to generate SPAM
mail. We use SteamEngine, an advanced system
designed to hide email addresses from harvesting software.
The
site contents and design are the copyright of the Tourist
Information Centre and Web Author respectively. By
submitting photographs, logos etc. for use in the brochure and
on the web site, you are confirming that you are either the
copyright owner or you have their permission to do so.
Some
adverts are enhanced by photographs which have been downloaded
from advertisers' own web sites. In these cases we have
assumed that permission has already been obtained from the
copyright owner for their use on web sites in connection with
the advertiser's business.
If
you are the copyright owner of material which has been used on
this site, and you feel that we have infringed that copyright,
please inform both the
webmaster and the advertiser, and we will remove it
as soon as possible.
Modbury TIC won't but our Webmaster will.
He
specialises in providing low-cost web sites for small
businesses. Send him an
email and he'll go
from there. Include your phone number too - it's good to
talk; it helps to make sure that that what he builds is what you
need!
Sorry, that's because we didn't think of it. Send us an
email and we'll try.
